Rain Gardens for the Pacific Northwest: by Zsofia Pasztor & Keri DeTore

Rain pounds the Pacific Northwest, gushing through dirty downspouts, across chemically treated lawns, over oily streets and through public storm drains into bays, rivers, lakes, streams, and wetlands where nature struggles to survive among the pollutants. It’s a problem caused by population density and it’s one that you can help solve.

Rain Gardens for the Pacific Northwest shows you how to trap and filter dirty water safely in your yard―and how to do that with a beautiful addition to your home. With photos and illustrations throughout, lists of best plants, and a comprehensive resources section, this easy-to-use guide shows Northwest gardeners, homeowners, and DIY-ers how to plan, design, install, and maintain their own healthy, natural, and beautiful rain garden.

Working with Zsofia, I co-authored and edited our text while providing graphic design and photography as well.

Rain Gardens for the Pacific Northwest is available through Amazon, at Mountaineers Books and in most book stores.

Zsofia and Keri are both available for book presentations at bookstores or horticulture-related events.

Lipsology: A Training Manual by Jilly Eddy Book Cover for Lipsology

Lipsology is a bit like palm reading in that someone who has been studying the “language” of the lips’ lines, lumps and bumps will interpret them to learn your story. With Lipsology, the client puts on lipstick and then kisses paper—you read that right—kisses paper and then the Lipsologist “reads” the resulting lip print.

Lipsology creator and instructor Jilly Eddy needed a teaching manual as an organized way to teach and grade her methodology. She already knew her information, it just needed to be articulated and made visual for students.

Working with Jilly, I created graphics to illustrate all the different characteristics a lip reader might come across (collected and cataloged by Jilly for over 20 years!) and designed the manual in an easy to read and understandable way. I also edited Jilly’s verbiage to be concise and informative while maintaining her distinct “voice.”

The Training Manual has since been re-edited and released as a book for anyone who might be interested in learning about lip prints. The book Lipsology: The Art and Science of Reading Lip Prints is available on Amazon and it’s a lot of fun doing lip-readings as entertainment at office parties or at home.

You might be surprised what your lip prints say about you!
